Also I can highly recommend you spending some time in making yourselves farmiliar to the sublime songs by Dark Dark Dark. I was already raving about their debut album in June 2011 and ok, I must admit their sophomore album doesn't quite live up to the quality of their first album, but still. I love them!

They'll be on tour again in Europe at the end of November so go and check them out live if you'll get the chance to.

These guys from Los Angeles, California, sure have been the best kept secret on the indie/electro circuit - to me anyway. Their third album 'THE MATTER' was released last month and this is their first official video off of it:

But make sure to listen to the whole album right here on their Soundcloud site. Track #1 being my highlight.

LISSY TRULLIE was 16 years old when she and her mum moved from Washington D.C. to New York City. She was writing her own songs from a very early age on, but it wasn't until her student years at Parsons that she started collaborating with fellow music-obsessed students. Their shows and her striking look also opened her the door to the fashion world. She, however, stresses that she never was a model nor a model turned singer. But it seems it's hard for her to keep the music and fashion worlds apart, being the April cover of the US Vogue and having the video to the Hot Chip cover "Ready For The Floor" shot by New York photographer Richard Kern, wearing a dress by designer Herve Leger. It turned out pretty cool, though. See for yourself:

So for her debut album, LISSY TRULLIE went into the studio with producers David Sitek (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and John Hill (Santigolde, M.I.A.) and with them she just couldn't go wrong. Out came an eclectic, uplifting indie-rock album that surprised me, since I'm usually not a big fan of women on vocals. Have a listen to the album here:

I recently got heaps of new music sent. MAN WITHOUT COUNTRY from Wales was one of them and I really quickly fell for their album FOE and their electronica-style-sound. One song that stood out from the beginning was KING COMPLEX:

And another catchy one is called PUPPETS:

Check out some more songs from thEir debut album here:

NEW || free MP3 || HOWLER - America Give Up

Howler: "Back of Your Neck"

I only heard about HOWLER this morning on the radio and since the singer's voice and in some ways also their doo-wop style of sound reminded me quite a bit of MAN MAN or MISTER HEAVENLY, I thought it makes the perfect next THIS IS TWEE post.

This is a pretty young band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, still in their late teens. Last year they toured the East Coast of the US with Tapes 'N Tapes and supported The Vaccines on their sold out UK tour.
I wish I was back in New York next week, since they will be playing a stint of record release shows in Manhatten and Brooklyn. It won't be long until they'll be back in Europe for their first headlining tour, though. It will kick off in Bristol on January 23rd and on February 11th they'll be in Berlin for their one and only Germany show.

I'm getting well excited seeing them on their tour, while I'm listening to their debut album AMERICA GIVE UP. See what you think about it: The album was released in Germany yesterday and will be released in the UK and US next week via Rough Trade. On HOWLER's Facebook site you get a link to download their current single "Back Of Your Neck".

NEW || free MP3 || GIVERS - IN LIGHT

At the moment there are quite a few bands on the music circuit, where the rhythm section plays a bigger role in the band than in most other bands. I already blogged about Caveman and with Gotye it's just the same. Now here is another band to add to this list, and a pretty exciting one: GIVERS. These guys in their early twens hail from Lafayette, Louisiana. They are fronted by Taylor Guarisco and Tiffany Lamson, the latter of whom also banging some drums at the front of the stage. But they all have an fantastic stage presence that get's the crowd going.
In Berlin at the Magnet Club in November of last year it didn't take them long to get the crowd to bop around.

GIVERS' debut "In Light" is an amazing album of dancy, rhythm-driven earworms that makes you want to sing along to every song. Here are three of their best, which are also their singles.
