LISSY TRULLIE was 16 years old when she and her mum moved from Washington D.C. to New York City. She was writing her own songs from a very early age on, but it wasn't until her student years at Parsons that she started collaborating with fellow music-obsessed students. Their shows and her striking look also opened her the door to the fashion world. She, however, stresses that she never was a model nor a model turned singer. But it seems it's hard for her to keep the music and fashion worlds apart, being the April cover of the US Vogue and having the video to the Hot Chip cover "Ready For The Floor" shot by New York photographer Richard Kern, wearing a dress by designer Herve Leger. It turned out pretty cool, though. See for yourself:

So for her debut album, LISSY TRULLIE went into the studio with producers David Sitek (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and John Hill (Santigolde, M.I.A.) and with them she just couldn't go wrong. Out came an eclectic, uplifting indie-rock album that surprised me, since I'm usually not a big fan of women on vocals. Have a listen to the album here:
